New Aberdeen Bypass Diversion Opens

The temporary diversion is located north of the existing (A93) North Deeside Road and will enable the contractor to build a new bridge. This will carry the new (A93) North Deeside Road over the AWPR/B-T (Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie-Tipperty)

A temporary roundabout will also be located at the (B979) Netherley Road / North Deeside Road (A93) junction. Traffic lights will be in use during peak times between 0600 hrs and 0930 hrs and then between 1530 hrs and 1800 hrs Monday to Friday to help manage the flow of traffic.

An AWPR/B-T spokesperson said:

"The new temporary diversion, which is around 300m in length, and roundabout will ensure that traffic can continue to use this route while works continue on this significant infrastructure project. The speed limit will remain at 40mph.

"However, we would like to ask road users to drive with more caution than usual, so that they can become accustomed to the new temporary road layout."

Variable message signs (VMS) are already in place to inform road users of the upcoming change.
