  • A9 Portgower Mill Bridge replacement

  • Highland Main Line

    Upgrading the Highland Mainline is one of the Scottish Government’s key priorities.  The long-term goal of the project seeks to achieve a fastest journey time of 2 hours 45 minutes between Inverness and the Central Belt with an average journey time of 3 hours and an hourly service by 2025.

  • A9 Cromarty Bridge refurbishment

    Transport Scotland will be carrying out this essential work over a number of years in order to ensure the bridges continued service in the Highlands.

  • A9 Kincraig to Dalraddy

    Under Construction

    The project involves approximately 7.5km of dualling of the A9 between Kincraig and Dalraddy, just south of Aviemore.

  • A9 Kessock Bridge resurfacing


    The Kessock Bridge opened to traffic in 1982. It is a cable stayed bridge and carries the A9 dual carriageway trunk road across the Beauly Firth at Inverness.

  • Electrification programme

    The Government’s rolling programme of electrification forms part of a wider £5 billion investment package in Scotland’s railway infrastructure.

  • A737 Improvements at Beith

    This scheme is to design improvements for the two existing substandard junctions on the A737 at Beith, at Headstreet/ Wardrop Street and at Barrmill Road.

  • Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route / Balmedie to Tipperty

    Under Construction

    The Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route / Balmedie to Tipperty (AWPR/B-T) project is a major transport infrastructure project. It will significantly improve travel in and around Aberdeen and the north east of Scotland.

  • A96 Inverness to Nairn including Nairn Bypass

    In Preparation

    The Strategic Transport Projects Review (STPR), published by Transport Scotland in 2008, set out the Scottish Government’s transport investment priorities over the coming decades.

    Specific trunk road interventions emerging from the review included upgrading the A96 between Inverness and Nairn to dual carriageway and also a bypass at Nairn.

  • Dundee Station redevelopment

    In Preparation

    Dundee City Council is substantially refurbishing Dundee station passenger facilities at a cost of £38 million as part of its Waterside Development. A key driver in the station development is the high profile opening of the adjacent Victoria and Albert Museum scheduled for 2018. The project is on target for December 2017 completion.
