Transport Scotland is the national transport agency for Scotland and is accountable to Parliament and the public through Scottish Ministers, with a budget of around £2 billion per year. Transport is a vital feature of the Scottish Government's focus on increasing sustainable economic growth, and transport investments and policies have major impacts on the economy, people, and the environment.
Drawing on your significant UK Rail Industry technical expertise as an engineer, you will be part of a team of experienced Rail Professionals delivering considered technical advice across Transport Scotland’s Rail Project Portfolio. Your will have experience in railway civils, track, signalling installations and commissions. A good knowledge of other railway disciplines will be an advantage.
Reporting to the Head of Operations & Technical Services, the Rail Technical Advisor will be the designated representative for technical advice for Rail Projects, being responsible for the preparation, acceptance and delivery of agreed technical remits between teams.
You will be a degree qualified engineer with particular experience in the UK railway environment. You will be expected to liaise directly with Third Party Promoters, Network Rail and Train Operating Companies to ensure that project objectives via scope and functional specifications are optimised for the cost effective timely delivery of Scottish Ministers objectives.
£46,889 – £57,503 (pro rata for part time).
