Road users in North Lanarkshire should expect delays as the A725 Bellziehill Junction north overbridge (A721 eastbound), Bellshill, will be closed from 10pm on Sunday 26 June 2022, for approximately eight weeks for essential bridge deck waterproofing and re-surfacing works.
As a result, the north overbridge of Bellziehill roundabout which carries the A721 eastbound carriageway will be closed to traffic between the A725 northbound on slip road and the A725 southbound off slip at Bellziehill Junction.
The A725 northbound and southbound off slips and on slips at Bellziehill Junction will remain open to traffic, while pedestrian access will be maintained via the footpaths on both the north and south side of Bellziehill roundabout overbridges.
The closures are required to ensure road user and road worker safety whilst essential bridge deck works are undertaken. In order to minimise disruption as far as possible, Scottish Roads Partnership has scheduled the works during the school summer holidays. The closure will be in place 24/7 for the duration of the works and road users are being advised to allow extra time for your journey or use an alternative route if possible.
Signed diversion routes will be in place whilst the works are ongoing.
In order to facilitate this closure, the following traffic management will be required overnight for one night on Sunday 26 June 2022, between 10pm and 6am:
- A725 northbound and southbound carriageways between Orbiston Junction and Diamond Interchange (James Street) will be reduced to a single lane
- Closure of the A725 southbound off slip at Bellziehill Junction, with a signed diversion route in place via the A725 southbound and Raith Junction
Please note, all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
