Road users are advised that the M74 southbound and northbound carriageways at Junction 5 Raith, between the off-slip and on-slip roads, will be closed overnight on weekdays over a three-week period, commencing Tuesday 09 May 2023 for essential bridge joint works. The diversion route for each closure will be via the Raith roundabout.

The works are planned to be undertaken in two phases as follows:

Phase 1

The M74 southbound carriageway at Junction 5 Raith, between the off-slip and on-slip roads, will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am for 7 nights on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 09 May to Friday 12 May (4 nights)
  • Monday 15 May to Wednesday 17 May (3 nights)

Phase 2

The M74 northbound carriageway at Junction 5 Raith, between the off-slip and on-slip roads, will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am for 7 nights on the following dates:

  • Thursday 18 May and Friday 19 May (2 nights)
  • Monday 22 May to Friday 26 May (5 nights)

The overnight closures are required to ensure road user and road worker safety whilst essential bridge joint works are undertaken and have been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption to traffic. The road will reopen at 6am each morning.

The works will be carried out by Scottish Roads Partnership on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of this route. The works have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland and Police Scotland.

Please note, all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
