Young Persons’ Free Bus Travel Scheme - Driver training package on Safeguarding of Children and Young People

The Young Persons' free bus travel scheme will open up free travel for over 900,000 young people aged under 22. The aim of the scheme is to embed sustainable travel habits in young people and to open up opportunities. We have been working closely with Barnardo's Scotland on how to safeguard young people while they are travelling on the bus network. In partnership with Barnardo's Scotland, we have developed training material for bus drivers. This will help drivers to recognise and respond to children or young adults who need support while travelling on the bus network and help ensure that they can travel safely.

How to use the training

  1. Using a laptop or computer, download the zip file containing the training material. This training will not work on tablets or smart phones.
