A75 Springholm and Crocketford Improvements

Local residents and road users are being invited to view and have their say on updated route options designs for bypasses for the villages of Springholm and Crocketford on the A75 in Dumfries and Galloway as initial design and assessment work progresses.

This event will provide information on which route options have been ruled out through the ongoing assessment work, and will present design information in further detail for route options that remain under consideration. Members of the public, road users and other stakeholders will also be able to see early designs of junction layouts and provide their feedback on our developing plans.

Representatives from Transport Scotland’s Project Team and our technical advisors, Jacobs, will be in attendance and happy to assist with any queries in relation to the scheme.

The route options are set to go on display at public exhibitions in Crocketford and Springholm, and on Transport Scotland’s website, later this month.

Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Tourism and Transport Stephen Flynn said:

We are committed to improving safety, resilience and reliability for everyone who uses the A75, including freight operators.

Springholm and Crocketford are the only two settlements on the busy route which have not yet been bypassed and we are pleased to be taking this work forward to improve the lives of people living, visiting and working in the villages.

The public engagement events later this month are an opportunity for locals and road users to view and comment on the route options that are under consideration as well as providing an update on the ongoing assessment process. We are seeking your feedback to help inform our work as we progress towards identification of a preferred route option in early 2027.

I would encourage anyone with an interest in this project to come along to one of the events or view the material online and share their feedback to help shape our plans.
