A9 dualling (Luncarty - Birnam) traffic management

Transport Scotland is advising A9 road users to drive with care on approach to the Luncarty to Pass of Birnam section as advance works begin later this month.

To ensure the safety of road users and workers, traffic management may be required at times to allow site clearance works along the route of the A9 Dualling: Luncarty to Pass of Birnam.

The advance works will involve the removal of excess vegetation including trees and scrub from the verge to make way for an extra lane in both directions. These works are scheduled to begin on 16th July and will take approximately 12 weeks to complete.

Perth–based firm, I & H Brown Limited has been appointed to undertake the site clearance in preparation for the start of works on the main contract later this year.

A spokesperson for Transport Scotland, said:

“By undertaking these works in advance of the main construction contract, we can reduce the likelihood of delays to the main construction works by minimising the risk of ecological impacts”.

“In addition, an ecologist will be present onsite throughout the duration of the works to advise of any mitigation measures that may be required for nesting birds and other species, such as bats and squirrels”.

“We will work closely with the contractor to minimise any disruption to traffic and would like to thank road users in advance for their patience.”
