A9 dualling - Luncarty to Pass of Birnam traffic management update (1)

A9 road users are being advised to drive with care on approach to Luncarty Junction as new traffic management restrictions will come into effect from Thursday August 29, 2019.

Existing traffic management restrictions will be extended by approximately 1 kilometre at the south end of the project as progress continues to dual the A9.

Northbound traffic will be reduced to a single lane on approach to the works and will be guided to crossover the central reservation on to the southbound carriageway, where a contraflow arrangement will be in operation over a short section of the dual carriageway.

This amendment to the traffic management is required to allow the new section of northbound carriageway to be tied into the existing dual carriageway.

It is anticipated that this traffic management will remain in place until completion of the project in Spring 2021.

Temporary traffic lights will be in operation overnight on Wednesday August 28, 2019 from 8:30 PM to 6:00 AM for installation of the contraflow.

A Transport Scotland spokesman said:

“This marks the start of the second major phase of traffic management for the project to dual the A9 from Luncarty to Pass of Birnam. This essential traffic management will open up the site and allow our contractor to continue works on the construction of the new northbound carriageway at this location.”

Transport Scotland apologise for any inconvenience caused during these works.
