A90 overnight works

The closure will be in place on the A90 north of the Forth Road Bridge in both directions from 21:00 hours on Friday September 30 to 05:00 hours on Saturday October 1, 2016.

In order to minimise the impact of these works two gantries will be installed in overnight. The first to the south of Dunfermline Wynd and the second on the south side of Admiralty Junction at the start of the northbound diverge (off-slip).

Southbound traffic will be diverted off the A90 at Admiralty with cars and light vehicles signed to Ferrytoll via Inverkeithing. Heavy traffic and those for the Port of Rosyth will be diverted via the A985 and Castle Road, Rosyth.

Northbound traffic approaching from the Forth Road Bridge will be diverted at Ferrytoll Junction to take the Castle Road/A985 diversion to Admiralty Junction.

Steven Brown, Transport Scotland Roads and Infrastructure Manager said:

“This work has been planned to take place overnight and at the weekend to minimise restrictions and delays for road users as far as is possible. However, we recognise this work could result in some disruption and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

“The diversions being used have worked well previously. In order to reduce the impact on local residents we aim to separate HGV traffic from the main car flow.

“Our advice to road users is to plan ahead, check the travel information from Traffic Scotland and allow extra time where necessary. During this time the Forth Road Bridge will remain fully open.”

This work is part of the ongoing installation of a complete system of overhead gantries in support of the Forth Replacement Crossing Scheme. There will be further overnight works to install another two gantries in October and November and details of this will be issued ahead of these operations.
