AWPR - Eight week closure for B977 Echt to Balmedie Road (1)

A section of the B977 Echt to Balmedie Road is expected to close for eight weeks to enable the contractor for the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie to Tipperty project (AWPR/B-T) to complete a new section of the B977 and connect it to the existing road.

The road is planned to close, between its junction with the A947 Newmachar Road and Goval House near Dyce, from the week commencing Monday 11 September. Access will be maintained for pedestrians, local residents, local businesses and emergency vehicles.

Diversions will be signed. Road users heading west should travel via the A947 Newmachar Road, the B979 Kinmundy Crossroads and onto the B977 Echt to Balmedie Road. The reverse journey should be taken by those travelling east.

A Transport Scotland spokesperson said:

“Once open, this new section of the B977 will enable road users to cross over the AWPR and the Goval Burn on two new bridges.

“The contractor has been working closely with Police Scotland and the local authorities to ensure that anyone who normally uses the B977 Echt to Balmedie Road at this location can continue to do so, while maintaining the safety of road users and road workers.

“We would like to encourage road users travelling through or nearby this area over the next eight weeks to plan their journeys in advance so that they can reach their destination safely and on time. For instance, they should consider using an alternative route, if possible, and giving themselves additional travelling time.

“We would like to thank road users and the local community for their on-going support and patience during the construction works.”
