AWPR - finishing works at Greens of Crynoch
A section of the C5K Lochton to Nigg Road at Greens of Crynoch is expected to close for around ten weeks from 6am on Monday 15 January 2018 as part of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie to Tipperty (AWPR/B-T) project.
This road closure will enable the contractor to complete the new bridge, which will take the AWPR above the local road, as well as complete the verges at the sides of the road.
Local diversions will be via the B979 to Templars, the B9077 to Blairs and the C30K to Auchlunies, and will be sign-posted. The reverse journey should be followed for those travelling in the opposite direction,
A Transport Scotland spokesperson said:
“This closure of the C5K Lochton to Auchlunies to Nigg Road is necessary to enable the contractor to carry out finishing works, while enhancing the safety of road users and road workers.
“We would like to encourage those drivers who would consider using this route to plan their journey in advance and allow themselves additional travelling time so that they can reach their destination safely and on time.
"We thank road users and the local community in advance for their patience during this period."
When complete, the AWPR/B-T will help to reduce congestion, cut journey times, improve safety and lower pollution in Aberdeen City Centre. It will also enable local authorities to develop public transport solutions.
Over the next three decades, the AWPR/B-T is expected to bring in an additional £6 billion to the north-east economy and create around 14,000 new jobs.
