AWPR - short overnight closure of Charleston A90 southbound slip road

The Charleston southbound merge slip road from the A956 Wellington Road onto the A90 is expected to close for around four hours from 10pm on Tuesday 8 May 2018 until 2am on Wednesday 9 May 2018, as part of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie to Tipperty (AWPR/B-T) project.

This short closure, which will enable the contractor to conduct lining works and install road studs, is required to enhance the safety of workers who will be operating within a confined works area.

Road users will be diverted via the A956 Charleston Bridge onto the A90 northbound to the Bridge of Dee. From there, they can join the A90 southbound.

A Transport Scotland spokesperson said:

“The temporary short-term closure of the Charleston southbound slip road onto the A90 has been timed to take place overnight when traffic is normally quieter to help minimise the impact it may have on road users. However, road users who would normally use this route should plan their journeys in advance so that they can reach their destination safely and on time.

“We would like to ask road users to drive with more caution than usual and to observe all signage for their own safety, as well as for the safety of other road users and the construction workforce.

“We would also like to thank road users and the local community for their on-going support and patience during the construction works.”
