AWPR - temporary closure of Borrowstone Road this weekend
The C93C Borrowstone Road is expected to close, between its junction with the A944 at the new South Kingswells Junction and Westholme Cottage, from 8pm on Friday 23 March to 6am on Monday 26 March, as part of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie to Tipperty (AWPR/B-T) project.
This closure will enable the contractor to construct a traffic island.
Diversions will be sign-posted. Road users heading north should travel via the A944 to Westhill Drive, then onto the B979 Kirkton of Skene to Blackburn Road and then back onto the C93C Borrowstone Road. The reverse journey should be used for those travelling south.
Access will be maintained for local residents and the Kingsford Industrial Estate during the closure
Road users should also be aware that lane closures will be in operation on the A944, between 7am and 7pm on Saturday 24 March and Sunday 25 March to enable signage to be installed and works on verges to be undertaken.
The above works are weather dependent and are therefore subject to change.
A Transport Scotland spokesperson said:
“The temporary closure of Borrowstone Road and lane closures on the nearby A944 have been timed to take place during weekends when traffic is normally quieter.
“We would like to encourage those drivers who would consider using this route to plan their journey in advance and allow themselves additional travelling time so that they can reach their destination safely and on time.
“Road users should drive with more caution than usual and observe all signage for their own safety, as well as for the safety other road users and the construction workforce.
"We thank road users and the local community in advance for their patience during this period."
