AWPR - Weekend closure for A90 Charleston slip roads

The contractor for the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie to Tipperty (AWPR/B-T) project will close the A90/A956 southbound merge and northbound diverge slip roads at Charleston from around 8pm on Friday 20 until 6am on Sunday 22 July 2018 for finishing works.

Diversions will be signposted. Road users on the A956 wishing to travel south will be diverted onto the A90 northbound merge to join the A90 northbound. They should continue until they reach the Bridge of Dee, where they can turn and re-join the A90 southbound carriageway.

Road users who would normally use the A90 northbound diverge to join the A956 should continue on the A90 north to Bridge of Dee, where they can turn and re-join the A90 southbound before leaving to join the A956 Wellington Road.

A number of local diversions will also be in place to direct road users around the closure area.

All works are dependent on suitable weather conditions, and may be subject to change at short notice.

A Transport Scotland spokesperson said:

“There will be temporary traffic management affecting the A956/A90 slip roads at Charleston from 8pm on Friday 20 July until 6am Sunday 22 July. We would like to remind all road users to observe all signage and drive with caution.

“The contractor has been working closely with Police Scotland and the local authority to ensure that road users have an alternative route available to them whilst these slip roads are closed, while maintaining the safety of road users and road workers.

“We would like to thank road users and the local community for their on-going support and patience during the construction works.”
