AWPR works - temporary weekend closures for B977
A section of the B977 Belhelvie Road will close for two weekends to enable the contractor for the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie to Tipperty project (AWPR/B-T) to tie in the new Goval east roundabout to adjoining slip roads and undertake resurfacing works.
The road is planned to be closed, between its junction with the Newmachar Church Road / B997 Scotstown Road and the A947 Newmachar Road, from 9pm on Friday 12 May until 6am on Monday 15 May and from 9pm on Friday 19 May until 6am on Monday 22 May.
Access will be maintained for pedestrians, local residents, local businesses and emergency vehicles.
Diversions will be signed. Road users heading eastbound should travel north on the A947 to Newmachar, turning right onto the U26C, right onto the B979 through Kingseat, right onto the B999 to Muirton where they can then re-join the B977 Belhelvie Road. Road users travelling westbound should reverse the journey.
A Transport Scotland spokesperson said:
“The contractor has been working closely with Police Scotland and the local authorities to ensure that anyone who needs to use the roads at Goval/Parkhill over the next few weekends can do so, while maintaining the safety of road users and road workers.
“These works have been timed to take place over two weekends to help minimise the impact they may have on road users. However, road users who will be travelling through or nearby this area during this time should plan their journeys in advance so that they can reach their destination safely and on time. For instance, they should consider using an alternative route, if possible, and giving themselves additional travelling time.
“We would like to thank road users and the local community for their on-going support and patience during the construction works.”
