Closures on M73 and restricted access to M74

M73 Southbound – weekend closure

The M73 southbound will be closed at two different times this weekend between junction 2 Baillieston and junction 1 Maryville.

The road will shut from 8pm on Friday 26 May until 8am on Saturday 27 May. It will close again at 8pm on Saturday until 6am on Monday 29 May.

Signed diversions will be in place via the M8 eastbound to junction 6A Chapelhall, return on M8 westbound to junction 7A Shawhead, A725 southbound to Raith roundabout and the M74, north or south.

M73 northbound – night closures

The M73 northbound will be closed for four nights between junction 1 Maryville and junction 2 Baillieston.

This will be between 8pm and 6am each night, from Sunday 28 May until Wednesday 31 May 2017.

Signed diversions will be in place via M74 southbound to Junction 5 Raith, A725 northbound to A8 westbound at Shawhead junction and continue west on A8 All-Purpose Road to A89 Bargeddie roundabout, Baillieston roundabout and the M8 westbound or M73 northbound.

M73 southbound link road – night closures

The link road from the M73 southbound to the M74 southbound will be closed for three nights.

This will be between 8pm and 6am each night, from Monday 29 May until Wednesday 31 May 2017.

Signed diversions will be in place via M74 northbound to junction 2A Fullarton and return via M74 southbound.

A721 on-slip to M74 southbound – night closures

The A721 on-slip to the M74 southbound is to be closed for four nights.

This will be between 8pm and 6am each night, from Sunday 28 May until Wednesday 31 May 2017.
Traffic should divert via A74/B7071 through Uddingston to Bellshill Road, M74 junction 5 Raith and then M74 southbound.

Transport Scotland Project Sponsor Graeme Reid said: “These essential works on the M73 southbound this Sunday will lead to delays on this busy stretch of motorway and we would ask road users to plan their journeys in advance and avoid the area if possible.”

“Transport Scotland and our contractor Scottish Roads Partnership are working to remove restrictions as soon as possible, with these works allowing the new and improved roads to open soon.”
