Diversion for Overnight Weekend Works on A90 at Charleston

Works have been scheduled to ensure that we minimise any disruption to road users. In order to undertake this work safely, traffic management works will start at 8pm both nights and last until 6am the following morning. The works will be undertaken on both northbound and southbound A90 carriageways, near to the A956 Charleston Junction, and will involve lane closures, temporary signals and a 40 mph speed restriction.

As part of these vital works, the A90 will have to close temporarily for a 15 minute period each night between midnight and 3am.

An AWPR/B-T spokesperson said:

“Every care is being taken during these works to ensure the safety of road users and workers. The contractor has therefore consulted with the emergency services, Transport Scotland and local authorities before committing to these works and arranging a suitable diversion, using the A956, Wellington Road and Riverside Drive.

“Northbound traffic will be able to leave the A90 at Charleston and follow the A956 northwest into Aberdeen. They can then follow existing road signs and re-join the A90 northbound.

“Southbound traffic will be able to follow the Great Southern Road South East and join West Tulloch Road South to the A956 Wellington Road. Southbound traffic will also have the option to use the existing HGV diversion route alongside Riverside Drive to the junction of West Tulloch Road.

"We advise motorists to plan their journeys in advance and thank road users for their patience during this period."
