Glasgow Prestwick Airport

The Cabinet Secretary for Finance and the Economy, Kate Forbes, has announced the appointment of Jamie Ross as Non-Executive Director to the Board of Glasgow Prestwick Airport.

Non-Executive Director Appointment

Valerie Scoular, former Non-Executive Director, stood down from her position at the end of her four-year term on 31 March 2022. She will be replaced by Jamie Ross who has been appointed as Non-Executive Director, following a recent recruitment exercise. His initial term will be for three years from 1 May 2022 until 30 April 2025. The appointment attracts a remuneration of £331 per day for a time commitment of 28 days per annum.

Mr Ross has extensive experience working within the transport sector. His career has encompassed a wide variety of leadership roles, most recently as Executive Vice President - Commercial for Menzies Aviation. Prior to that he held senior commercial and business development positions with the Go-Ahead Group plc and Serco Group plc. He held operational and general management positions at Great North Eastern Railway (GNER) and Northern Rail. He also had a four-year period in the Scottish Government, working across multiple sectors of the transport industry. As a result, he has considerable knowledge of both public and private sector transport operations and an in depth understanding of the role that transport plays in the wider economy. He offers significant experience of global aviation services following six years of leading Menzies aviation's commercial activities across the world with major airline and fuel companies, building relationships and partnerships with customers, partners and suppliers.

Mr Ross does not hold any other ministerial appointments.

Political Activity

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public. Mr Ross has had no political activity in the last five years.
