HIAL interim chair announced

An interim Chair of Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd (HIAL) has been announced, as the process of making a permanent appointment gets underway.

Current member of the HIAL board, Lorna Jack, will take up the post and help guide the company as it works on a number of projects central to the future of air travel in the Highlands and Islands.

Work to identify candidates for the post on a permanent basis through the formal public appointments process is already underway.

Minister for Transport and the Islands Humza Yousaf said:

“Lorna has been an invaluable member of the HIAL Board since 2014, and she is the perfect candidate to step into this role and help guide the company over the coming months.

“The process to find a permanent Chair is already underway and we will look to make that appointment as soon as we can.

“I congratulate Lorna on her appointment and look forward to working with her. I’d also like to thank her predecessor, Mike Cantlay, for his service during his time with HIAL. ”

Lorna Jack said:

“This is a very exciting, albeit challenging, opportunity. I’m delighted to have been appointed as interim chair at HIAL, continuing the superb work of Mike Cantlay until a permanent Chair can be appointed. HIAL has gone from strength to strength, with increasing numbers of passengers and flights, under his and managing director Inglis Lyon's leadership.

“I am only able to take this on in the short term with the support and commitment of my colleague non-executive directors at HIAL and its senior management team. Together we will work to maintain that success over this transition period.”
