M74 Junction 3A, Daldowie - Weekend Closure
Residents and road users in the Uddingston and Broomhouse areas are being advised that the M74 Junction 3A, Daldowie, will be closed for a long weekend, from 8pm on Friday 15th to 6am on Tuesday 19th July, 2016.
The closure, between the A721 Glasgow/Hamilton Road and the M74 overbridge approaching Daldowie Crematorium, is necessary to improve the existing roundabout and construct a new motorway on-slip to the M73 northbound from Daldowie, Junction 3A, as part of the M8 M73 M74 Motorway Improvements Project.
As a result, there will be no access to, or from, the motorway network via (A721/A74) Hamilton Road (Black Bear roundabout) from Friday evening until Tuesday morning. This includes the closure of the M74 north and southbound off-slips, and the M73 southbound off-slip at Daldowie, Junction 3A.
During the closure, the A721 will be reduced to one lane with temporary traffic lights, while access to Daldowie Crematorium and the surrounding Daldowie estate will only be possible via the motorway network. Pedestrian access across the M74 overbridge will be maintained.
Signed diversion routes will be in place via M74 northbound Junction 2A, Fullerton off-slip; the B7071 Uddingston/Bothwell and the M73 northbound Junction 2, Baillieston.
In order to minimise disruption as far as possible, Scottish Roads Partnership has scheduled these works during the Summer holiday period, with operations planned 24/7, to upgrade Daldowie Junction as quickly as possible.
Traffic management layouts change regularly, therefore road users are advised to routinely check the Transport Scotland website and the Traffic Scotland website for live updates; www.transportscotland.gov.uk and www.trafficscotland.org
