M74 widening works to close local road for 11 days

The closure, between Wilkie Road and Fallside Road, is necessary to carry out the widening of the M74 motorway bridge over Bellshill Road, Uddingston, as part of the M8 M73 M74 Motorway Improvements Project.

As a result, both the road and footpaths on the B756 will be closed for the duration of the works. A free, 24 hour shuttle bus will be in operation during the footpath closure to transfer pedestrians from one side of the closure to the other.

Road users should follow the signed diversions via the A721 New Edinburgh Road, B7071 and Fallside Road, depending on approach.

In order to minimise disruption as far as possible, Scottish Roads Partnership has scheduled these works during the Summer holiday period, with operations planned 24/7, 7 days a week, to progress the widening of the existing bridge as quickly as possible.
