Major AWPR/B-T project works at Milltimber

Road traffic measures which will be implemented in Milltimber during May as part of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie-Tipperty project will result in a realignment of Culter House Road.

Culter House Road is expected to close between its junctions with Bucklerburn Road and the access road to East Lodge from 5.30am on Monday 8 May until 10pm on Sunday 21 May. This will enable essential construction works and utility diversions to be undertaken.

Local diversions via the A93 North Deeside Road, Malcolm Road, Contlaw Road and Culter House Road or vice versa will all be signposted. Access for local residents and businesses will be maintained at all times.

Once these works are complete, road users will no longer be able to get through access along Culter House Road over the AWPR/B-T route. Instead, road users travelling east will follow a permanent new alignment which will turn right onto a new section of road adjacent to Kippie Lodge before joining the A93 North Deeside Road at Milltimber Brae.

The reverse journey is required for those travelling west. There will only be local access to properties on Culter House Road on the east side of the AWPR/B-T route, via the existing Contlaw Road/A93 North Deeside Road Junction.

A Transport Scotland spokesperson said:

“We would like to remind road users that changes to the road layout in Milltimber will shortly be in place. As with any change to road layout, we strongly encourage road users to drive with more caution than usual. We would also kindly request drivers to observe all of the signage and speed limits that are in place to enhance the safety of road users and road workers.

“We would like to thank road users and the local community for their on-going support and patience during the construction works.”
