Major disruption expected at M8 Eurocentral for seven days

Eurocentral closure - phase 1 - 25-27 May 2017

The works will happen in two stages, restricting access to and from the M8/A8, Maxim Business Park and Dakota Hotel from McNeil Drive and Townhead Avenue.

Phase one will commence from 8am on Thursday 25 May until 8pm on Saturday 27 May 2017. This will result in the closure of Townhead Avenue between Parklands Avenue and Renshaw Place. The M8 westbound on-slip will remain closed

Access into the Maxim Business Park and Dakota Hotel will be maintained via the A8 westbound All-Purpose Road and the Eurocentral north roundabout. Traffic leaving these destinations will be diverted via McNeil Drive, Chapelhall.

Phase two will commence from 8pm on Sunday 28 May to 8pm on Wednesday 31 May 2017. This will result in the  closure of Townhead Avenue northbound, between Parklands Avenue and Renshaw Place, and the A8 westbound All Purpose Road from Chapelhall.

Access to the Maxim Business Park and Dakota Hotel will be maintained via signed diversions along the M8/A8 to Chapelhall junction, B799 Bo’Ness Road to McNeil Drive, Townhead Avenue and Parklands Avenue. Traffic leaving these destinations will follow this diversion in the opposite direction.

Transport Scotland Project Sponsor Graeme Reid said: “We recognise this is a very busy junction and these works will cause delays. We are looking to minimise these by having manually operated traffic signals in place at peak times to allow vehicles out of McNeil Drive.

“We have asked our contractor to work as quickly as possible and to open roads as soon as they become available to minimise disruption.

“However, we would urge people to leave plenty of time for their journeys and to expect delays, particularly at peak times.”
