Overnight Closure of A8 between Baillieston Interchange and Shawhead Junction

This will take effect from 8pm on Thursday 23rd and remain in place until 6am on Friday 24th March 2017.

During that time, the A8 will be closed in both directions to allow construction of the new Bredisholm Road Bridge, which crosses the A8 and new M8 near Bargeddie.

The installation of this bridge will improve access for local communities and will link to the 16km of new cycle routes and pathways being constructed as part of the M8 M73 M74 Motorway Improvements Project.

Access to Bargeddie and the Showcase Cinema Complex will be maintained via the local roads.

Signed diversions will be in place via the M73, M74 and A725 to provide road users with an alternative route from all approaches; however, motorists are being advised to plan their journeys in advance.

When complete, the M8 M73 M74 Motorway Improvements Project will significantly reduce congestion across the central Scotland motorway network, shaving approximately 20 minutes off the daily commute from Glasgow to Edinburgh.

This closure is weather dependent, therefore please refer to the Transport Scotland and Traffic Scotland websites for the latest information.
