Solheim Cup Travel

Transport Scotland intends to award a contract to Stagecoach East Scotland to provide a bus park & ride service for visitors to the Solheim Cup, taking place 9th-15th September at Gleneagles, subject to a mandatory standstill period.

Transport Scotland has developed a transport plan for all visitors to the event. A key part of this plan will include a free bus park & ride service to transport visitors from sites located at Perth and Stirling onto Gleneagles. The service will provide a free, convenient way for spectators to travel to one of the biggest events being hosted in Scotland this year.

The event experience begins from the moment a spectator begins their travel to the event and Transport Scotland has worked to identify and procure a supplier who can ensure the bus journey to the venue is part of the overall quality experience associated with the Solheim Cup.

Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity, Michael Matheson said:

“Over the past 2 and a half years, Transport Scotland has been working with partners to develop a transport plan for all visitors to the Solheim Cup 2019 being held in Gleneagles. The Solheim Cup is one of the biggest events taking place in Scotland during 2019 and will attract visitors from all over the world, with an expected 100,000 attendees to the tournament and a tv audience of 600 million, all eyes will be on Scotland. The transport plan, and the bus park and ride experience will ensure all attendees begin experiencing the excitement and quality associated with the Solheim Cup when it takes place in September.”
