Temporary diversion at South Deeside Road from next week

A temporary diversion for the B9077 South Deeside Road is expected to be implemented from 10pm on Wednesday 9 August for around 12 weeks, as part of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie to Tipperty (AWPR/B-T) project.

This local temporary diversion is necessary to minimise disruption to road users whilst enabling the contractor to safely undertake works on the new River Dee Crossing where it passes above the B9077 South Deeside Road.

A Transport Scotland spokesperson said:

“We would like to encourage road users to exercise more caution than usual in this area as they become accustomed to the temporary changes in road layout at South Deeside Road.

“We would also like to remind all road users that additional traffic management measures, including short-term use of temporary traffic lights, will be required at times to enhance the safety of the local community, road workers and road users and should be observed.”

When complete, the AWPR/B-T will help to reduce congestion, cut journey times, improve safety and lower pollution in Aberdeen City Centre. It will also enable local authorities to develop public transport solutions.
