Temporary realignment South Deeside Road from early next week

A short temporary realignment of the B9077 South Deeside Road is expected to be implemented overnight from 10 PM on Sunday February 4, for around two weeks as part of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie to Tipperty (AWPR/B-T) project.

The local temporary diversion is necessary to minimise disruption to road users, who should only notice a slight change to road layout, whilst enabling the contractor to safely undertake drainage works and rebuild a wall. These works are subject to favourable weather conditions.

A Transport Scotland spokesperson said:

“We would like to encourage road users to exercise more caution than usual in this area as they become accustomed to the temporary changes in road layout for the next two weeks at South Deeside Road for their own safety and the safety of road users.

“We would also like to remind all road users that additional traffic management measures, including short-term use of temporary traffic lights, will be required at times to enhance the safety of the local community, road workers and road users and should be observed.”

When complete, the AWPR/B-T will help to reduce congestion, cut journey times, improve safety and lower pollution in Aberdeen City Centre. It will also enable local authorities to develop public transport solutions.
