Traffic management on A9 Luncarty to Birnam for advance works
Transport Scotland is advising A9 road users to drive with care on approach to the Luncarty to Pass of Birnam section as traffic restrictions come into force today, Monday 30 July, for approximately eight weeks.
Traffic management including occasional lane closures, reduced speed restrictions and the installation of traffic signals is required to ensure the safety of road users and workers, while site clearance begins along the route of the A9 Dualling: Luncarty to Pass of Birnam.
Traffic restrictions will only be in place during off-peak hours between 9:30am and 3:30pm Monday to Thursday, and 9:30am and 1pm on Friday, with a 40mph speed restriction in place on approach, reducing to 30mph through the works.
Delays are expected and will be monitored, although road users are advised to allow additional time for their journey.
A spokesperson for Transport Scotland said:
“These advance works allow seasonal activities to be undertaken before the main construction contract is awarded which can help reduce the risk of delays to the construction programme, assisting the main contractor when appointed.
“We will work closely with the contractor to minimise any disruption to traffic and would like to thank road users in advance for their patience.”
