Upcoming traffic management on A9

Transport Scotland is advising A9 road users to drive with care between Luncarty and Dunkeld during overnight temporary traffic management which will be in place from 30 September for six nights.

The measures being put in place include lane closures and temporary traffic lights, which are required for utility diversion works, as part of the A9 Dualling: Luncarty to Pass of Birnam project.

To minimise disruption to road users and to take account of traffic returning from Enchanted Forest events in Pitlochry, these works have been scheduled overnight from 21:30 to 06:00 hours (Monday – Saturday).

Road users are advised to allow additional time for their journey and to take care on approach as traffic management layouts are likely to change throughout this period.

The temporary traffic management will be in place overnight at the following locations:

  • 30 September to 1 October: A9 northbound lane 1 closed on dual carriageway between Gellywood and Dunkeld
  • 2 October: temporary traffic lights on the A9 at Gellywood and lane 1 closed on dual carriageway between Gellywood and Dunkeld
  • 3 to 5 October: A9 northbound lane 1 closed on dual carriageway between Gellywood and Dunkeld and temporary traffic lights on the B867 at Bankfoot.

Traffic management is necessary to ensure the safety of road users and operatives as works take place in close proximity to the A9 carriageway.

These operations have been scheduled when traffic levels are at their lowest and signals will be controlled manually to minimise delays. Please note the work is weather dependant.
