A76 Glenairlie improvement scheme

What's involved?

The improvement and widening of the existing A76 over approximately 2.9 kilometres to provide safer overtaking opportunities.

The new road will consist of an 11m single carriageway plus lateral strips, with two lanes westbound and one eastbound separated by a 1m un-kerbed hatched median strip.

Project benefits

The project is intended to provide guaranteed overtaking opportunities to reduce platoons, driver frustration and accidents.

Impact on travel

As most of the work is off-line there will be minimal impact on journey times.

Traffic management

During construction of the tie-ins, traffic signals will be required for a limited period.

Environmental impact

The environmental impact will be minimal as the new alignment runs parallel and very close to the existing A76.
