Cumbernauld Electrification
The Cumbernauld Electrification Project comprised the installation of 50 single track kilometres of Overhead Line Equipment on the line from Springburn to Cumbernauld. Electrification was completed in May 2014.
Rutherglen and Coatbridge Electrification
The Rutherglen to Coatbridge Electrification Project comprised the installation of 26 single track kilometres of Overhead Line Equipment on the line from Glasgow Central to Whifflet. Electrification was completed in December 2014.
Edinburgh - Glasgow via Falkirk High
The electrification of the main Edinburgh to Glasgow via Falkirk line was completed in December 2017. This facilitated the change to electric traction for Edinburgh - Glasgow main line passenger services
Edinburgh and Glasgow to Stirling, Dunblane and Alloa
The electrification of the Stirling/Alloa/Dunblane was completed in December 2018, with the project delivering much needed step free access to all platforms in Stirling Station. The project also delivered a number of improvements benefiting local communities including new improved road bridges for Stirling, Dunblane, Larbert and Cowie.
Edinburgh - Glasgow via Shotts
Works to electrify the Edinburgh – Glasgow via Shotts line, was completed in March 2019. This comprised of electrification of 75 single track kilometres (approximately 46 miles) of track. between Lanarkshire and through to Mid-Calder Junction.
