Work is started in 2014 to construct a five storey station concourse and hotel.
The £38 million project will provide:
- A new triple-height passenger concourse
- Ticketing facilities
- Passenger information
- 2 escalators and lift
- A Retail Unit and 2-storey café
- A 120 bedroom hotel.
The proposed station concourse will occupy the site of the existing concourse which is a 1960s extension to the original Victorian station buildings.
The building will be carefully designed to create an impressive new landmark within the Central Waterfront development and will also be an attractive new gateway into the city for rail passengers.
Work is also expected on a 40 space car park, at the rear of the station.
Drop off/pick up provision will also be provided in the area.
The completion date for the project is expected to be autumn 2016 to coincide with the planned opening of the new Victoria & Albert Museum, which is anticipated to be a significant tourist attraction for the area.
Further details about the project can be found on the Dundee Waterfront project website.
