Glasgow Subway modernisation
The substantial upgrade to one of the world's oldest underground metro systems will provide a real economic boost to Scotland's biggest city, linking to other transport infrastructure improvements across Glasgow and help contribute to the city's regeneration.
The project will deliver new bespoke trains, refurbished stations, upgraded signals, improved accessibility (including escalator replacements) and will introduce a smartcard ticketing system which integrates with other ticketing arrangements.
Hillhead station was upgraded in September 2012, while work has now begun on Partick, Kelvinhall and Ibrox Stations for completion ahead of the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
