Working with partners to improve smart travel
We work with various stakeholders including transport authorities, local councils, operators and the public. Our collaborative approach has already helped to deliver a significant range of enhancements, such as new digital platforms, universal smartcards, digital concessionary ferry vouchers, and providing contactless payment on 98% of bus services.
We continue to work together with partners and stakeholders to enhance the consistency of smart and integrated ticketing and improve the quality and availability of travel information.
Smart and integrated ticketing survey 2023
We’re working hard to enhance smart and integrated ticketing in Scotland, making it easier for you to use sustainable transport and access the best tickets for your journey.
We ran a public survey between March and May 2023 to understand the public’s views on ticketing, and these findings are now published. It identified a preference for digital and contactless ticketing:
- 55% of people want to be able to use a digital platform such as mobile tickets.
- 46% wanted to be able to use tap in tap out with contactless.
- 33% wanted to be able to load their ticket onto a smartcard.
- 33% still wanted paper ticketing on offer (with smart payment)
- (Percentages add up to more than 100% as people could multiple options)
