Assessment of cumulative effects
The proposed works are not anticipated to result in significant environmental effects. Due to the nature of the proposed works, no cumulative effects are anticipated with any other developments in the vicinity.
A search of the Scottish Road Works Commissioner’s website (map search) has identified no works on the A1 surrounding the scheme extents.
In addition, a search using East Lothian Council 'Simple Search' identified four planning applications within 300m of the scheme extents within the last two years.
- 25/00083/AMM – Approval of matters specified in condition 2 of planning permission in principle 22/00852/PPM – borders the SB carriageway within the scheme extents.
- 24/01213/EOL - Erection of overhead 11kv power line - partly located within the scheme extents.
- 25/01412/P - Erection of AI/Data processing building and associated works (Retrospective) - located approx. 10m east of the scheme
- 26/00002/OBL – Discharge of the Planning Obligation on Planning Permission in Principle 09/00553/OUT Whitesands Equestrian is a property that consists of 1 dwelling, stable block, riding arena and approximately 16 acres of grazing ground - located approx. 215m north of the scheme
While it is not possible to know the exact timings for the above planning applications, the resurfacing works will be restricted to the A1 carriageway and undertaken on a rolling programme over a short duration, therefore, it is unlikely that the proposed works will have a significant cumulative effect with any other future works in the area.
