Description
BEAR Scotland has been commissioned by Transport Scotland to carry out resurfacing and structural maintenance of a 350-metre stretch of the A87 within Sconser on the Isle of Skye. Works are required to repair surface and structural road defects. The total works area covers 0.217 hectares.
The works are scheduled for delivery within the 2026/27 financial year (April 2026 to March 2027 inclusive), with a proposed start date of 01/05/2026. All works will be undertaken during night‑time hours over a 5 night period. However, the programme is subject to change, and start dates or working hours may be revised if required.
Traffic Management (TM) will consist of a full road closure between 19:00pm to 06:00am. Amnesties will be in place to allow traffic through every hour on the hour from 20:00-00:00, and then every two hours at 02:00 and 04:00.
Location
The scheme is located along a stretch of the A87 within the crofting township of Sconser on the Isle of Skye, in the Highland Council administrative area (see Figure 1). The scheme is located between the National Grid References (NGRs) NG 52196 32225 and NG 51886 32078.
