Project Details

Description

Resurfacing works are required to maintain the safety and integrity of a section of the A9 carriageway located between Dunblane and Greenloaning, as the existing carriageway is displaying surface and structural defects such as transverse and alligator cracking, crazing and rutting.

Treatment will include inlays to remove deterioration and reinstate binder layers, with deeper partial reconstructions applied in localised patches where more extensive deterioration is present. The scheme will replace the existing pavement with new asphalt surface course and AC binder layers to ensure consistency, durability and long-term performance. Road studs and lining will be refreshed as part of the scheme.

The following plant and machinery will be required:

  • Planer
  • Paver
  • Miller
  • Wagon
  • Roller
  • Traffic Management (TM) plant.

The scheme is approximately 2.36 kilometres (km) long, with a total area of approximately 2 hectares (ha).

The construction is programmed to be undertaken and completed within the 2026-2027 financial year, proposed for November 2026. TM will comprise an overnight convoy system.

The works will be carried out overnight for approximately three weeks.
