Description

Resurfacing works are required to maintain the safety and integrity of a section of the M90 carriageway (southbound) located north of Glenfarg, Perth and Kinross as the existing carriageway is displaying surface and structural issues.

The primary treatment will be surface treatment, with inlay resurfacing at various depths throughout the scheme extents.

The scheme is approximately 1.52 kilometres (km), with a total area of approximately 1.8 hectares (ha).

Construction activities and the associated plant and machinery required are as follows:

  • Implementation of Traffic Management (TM) and marking out site (TM plant);
  • Milling of existing surfacing to agreed depths (planer, miller, wagon);
  • Resurfacing of carriageway using TS2010 aggregate, AC binder and AC base (paver, roller);
  • Reinstatement of road markings, linings, and studs (lorries/wagons and plant);
  • Removal of TM.

The construction is programmed to be undertaken and completed within the 2025-2026 financial year, proposed for January 2026. A contraflow system will in place 24/7, with works undertaken during night-time working hours for approximately two weeks.

This section of the M90 carriageway is a dual carriageway located north of Glenfarg, Perth and Kinross at the following National Grid References (NGRs) (Figure 1):
