1. We are aware that many of our road safety partners use other words - such as "crash" or "collision" when referring to a road traffic incident that results in injury, fatality or vehicle damage. However, for this publication we have used the word "accident" to ensure consistency with Transport Scotland's annual statistical publication "Reported Road Casualties Scotland", which uses that term.
