This table can be used to establish the percentage of employed adults working in a given council area that reside in that or other council areas.

For example, the percentage of employed adults working in Fife who live in Edinburgh can be found by locating the horizontal row labelled Fife beneath Council area of workplace and looking across to the figure appearing in the vertical column labelled Edinburgh. In this case 2% of those who work in Fife live in Edinburgh.

Notes: In previous publications this table has been orientated the opposite way to the above - with the council area of residence forming the rows and the council area of workplace forming the columns.

In last year's publication a significant number of workplaces were incorrectly coded as 'not known'. This has been corrected, resulting in a seeming drop in the number of those working in workplace 'not known'.
