Direction amendment - The A83 Trunk Road (Furnace to Cumlodden) (Temporary 40mph Speed Restriction) Order 2017

The Scottish Ministers hereby direct under section 15(3) of the Road Traffic Regulation 1984 that the above order will continue in force until 8 August 2019.

The A83 Trunk Road (Furnace to Cumlodden) (Temporary 40mph Speed Restriction) Order 2017 came into force on 8th August 2017 and ceases to have effect on 8 February 2019.

The order imposes a temporary 40mph speed restriction in the interest of road safety following the outcome of the speed limit review which was carried out on that length of the A83 Tarbet - Lochgilphead - Campbeltown Trunk Road from a point 1.242 kilometres or thereby south west of the extended centre line of the junction with the C36 Furnace Side Road to a point 130 metres or thereby south west of the point where it meets the extended western gable wall of Number 1 Cumlodden Cottages a distance of 1.558 kilometres or thereby.

The order will expire on 8th August 2019 if no further direction is given and the order is neither revoked nor amended.

Alternative Routes

An alternative route for traffic during the restriction is not required.

Direction under Section 15(3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

The Scottish Ministers direct that, as they propose to make provision to reproduce the effect of the A83 Trunk Road (Furnace to Cumlodden) Temporary 40mph Speed Restriction) Order 2017 (SSI 2017/258) (“the temporary order”) but that in consequence of the procedure required to be followed in connection with making that provision, it cannot come into operation until the temporary order ceases to be in force, the temporary order shall continue in force until 8 August 2019.
