The A6091 Trunk Road (Borders General Hospital Junction) (Prohibition of Specified Turns) Revocation Order 201[]

The Scottish Ministers hereby give notice that they propose to make the above Order under sections 1(1), 2(1), 2(2)(a) and 124(1)(d) of, and paragraph 27 of schedule 9 of, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The purpose of the Order is to remove the current prohibition on vehicles making a right turn manoeuvre on that length of the unclassified road D16/4 at its junction with the A6091/A7 Melrose – Galashiels – Carlisle Trunk Road at Borders General Hospital, following the installation of traffic signals at this junction.

The A6091 Trunk Road (Borders General Hospital Junction) (Prohibition of Specified Turns) Order 2011 will be revoked by this Order.

Full details of the proposal are contained in the Order which, together with a plan showing the length of road involved, a copy of the existing Orders to be revoked and a statement of the Scottish Ministers’ reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be examined free of charge during normal business hours from 10 May 2018 until 4 June 2018 at the offices of Transport Scotland, Buchanan House, 58 Port Dundas Road, Glasgow, G4 0HF, & Melrose Library, 18 Market Square, Melrose, TD6 9PN.

Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order should send details of the grounds for objection in writing to the Director of Trunk Road and Bus Operations, c/o Kieran McLachlan, Transport Scotland, Buchanan House, 58 Port Dundas Road, Glasgow, G4 0HF by 4th June 2018.

Statement of method

To facilitate the permission of right turns from the U16/4 unclassified road serving Borders General Hospital, signing in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002 will be removed on the unclassified road and opposite junction.

The layout of the junction has been altered by installing traffic signals and re-shaping the islands on the unclassified road to create a new right turn lane for traffic exiting from the direction of the Borders General Hospital.
