The A6091/A7 Trunk Road (Borders General Hospital) (Temporary 40mph Speed Restriction) Order 2018

The Scottish Ministers hereby give notice that they have made the above Order, under sections 2(1) and 14(1)(b) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 which will have the effect of imposing a 40mph speed limit on that length of the A6091/A7 Melrose-Galashiels-Carlisle Trunk Road from a point 40 metres or thereby west of where it passes under the centre point of the Broomilees Road Overbridge, in an easterly direction, to a point 28 metres or thereby east of where it passes over the centre line of the Chiefswood Road Overpass, a distance of 818 metres or thereby.

The Order, which is required to enable a temporary speed restriction for the purpose of public safety whilst waiting on the delivery and installation of a high traffic light mast, will be in operation from 5 May 2018 until 7 June 2018. The provisions relating to temporary speed restrictions do not apply to vehicles being used in used in an emergency for fire brigade, ambulance, police or coastguard purposes.
