The A737 (The Den, Dalry) (Temporary Prohibitions of Traffic and Overtaking and Temporary 40 mph Speed Restriction) Order 2019

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1) and (2), 4(1) and 14(1)(a) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit use of the road and overtaking and temporarily restrict the speed of vehicles to 40 miles per hour on that length of the A737/A738 St James Interchange – Kilwinning – Hawkhill Trunk Road from a point 180 metres east of where it meets the entrance to the private property known as Hareshaw Farm, Dalry to the point where it meets the unclassified ZU11, a distance of 2.5 kilometres or thereby.

The Order, which is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near that length of road, will be in force from 1 April 2019 until 31 March 2020. The prohibitions and restriction contained in the Order will only have effect in relation to that length of road, or such part or parts of that length of road, as indicated by appropriate traffic signs.

The prohibitions imposed by the Order do not apply to vehicles being used in an emergency for fire brigade, ambulance, police or coastguard purposes or vehicles while being used for carrying out the works. The speed restriction imposed by the Order does not apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces)(Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations or to vehicles being used in an emergency for coastguard purposes.

Alternative routes for the traffic during the prohibition will be signposted.
