The A75 Trunk Road (Springholm) (Temporary 20mph and 40mph Speed Restrictions) Order 2025
The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1), 4(1) and 14(1)(b) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will have the effect of imposing temporary 20mph and 40mph speed restrictions on the following lengths of road:
20mph
That length of the A75 Gretna- Stranraer Trunk Road at Springholm from a point 580 metres or thereby north east of the extended centre line of its junction with Cameronian Place southwards to a point 500 metres or thereby southwest of the extended centre line of its junction with Victoria Street, a distance of 1.361 kilometres or thereby.
40mph
- That length of the A75 Gretna- Stranraer Trunk Road at Springholm from a point 580 metres or thereby north east of the extended centre line of its junction with Cameronian Place northwards to a point 898 metres or thereby north east of the extended centre line of its junction with Cameronian Place, a distance of 318 metres or thereby.
- That length of the A75 Gretna- Stranraer Trunk Road at Springholm from a point 500 metres or thereby southwest of the extended centre line of its junction with Victoria Street southwestwards to a point 796 metres or thereby southwest of the extended centre line of its junction with Victoria Street, a distance of 296 metres or thereby.
The Order, which is required in the interest of road safety, will be in operation from 28 November 2025 until 28 May 2027, and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
The Order does not apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations; or vehicles being used in an emergency for coastguard purposes.

UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 Compatibility Consideration and Narration of Statement of Compatibility
The Scottish Ministers have made the following statement regarding children’s rights.
“In accordance with section 23(2) of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 (the Act), the Scottish Ministers certify that, in their view, the A75 Trunk Road (Springholm) (Temporary 20mph and 40mph Speed Restrictions) Order 2025 is compatible with the UNCRC requirements as defined by section 1(2) of the Act.”
