The A76 Trunk Road (Kirkconnel) (Temporary Prohibition on Waiting, Loading and Unloading) Order 2026

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1) and (2), 4(1) and 14(1)(a) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will have the effect of temporarily prohibiting waiting, loading and unloading on that length of the A76 Dumfries – Kilmarnock Trunk Road at Kirkconnel, Main Street from Duke Street and St Conal’s Square Junction to Needle Street Junction, a distance of 131 metres or thereby.

The Order, which is required because works are being proposed to be executed on or near the road will be in operation from the 30th March until 31st March 2026. It is anticipated that the restrictions will be in place between 09:00 hours until 16:00 hours and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. 

The Order does not apply to vehicles being used in an emergency for fire brigade, ambulance, police or coastguard purposes or vehicles being used for carrying out the works.

An alternative route is not required.

UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 Compatibility Consideration and Narration of Statement of Compatibility

In accordance with section 23(2) of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 (the Act), the Scottish Ministers certify that, in their view, the A76 Trunk Road (Kirkconnel) (Temporary Prohibition on Waiting, Loading and Unloading) Order 2026 is compatible with the UNCRC requirements as defined by section 1(2) of the Act.
