The A78 Trunk Road (West Kilbride incorporating Seamill) (30mph and 40mph speed limit) Order 201[ ]

The Scottish Ministers hereby give notice that they propose to make the above Order under sections 82(2)(a) and (b), 83(1), 84(1)(a), and 124(1)(d) of, and paragraph 27 of schedule 9 of, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 which will have the effect of imposing a 30mph and 40mph speed limit on the following lengths of road:

30 mph speed limit

That length of the A78 Greenock – Prestwick Trunk Road at West Kilbride incorporating Seamill, from a point 135 metres or thereby south of its junction with Portencross Road, West Kilbride, in a southerly direction to a point 60 metres or thereby north of the extended south building line of No. 10 Chapelton Mains, Seamill, a distance of 1.96 kilometres or thereby.

40 mph speed limit

That length of the A78 Greenock – Prestwick Trunk Road at West Kilbride incorporating Seamill, from a point 60 metres or thereby north of the extended south building line of No 10 Chapleton Mains, in a southerly direction to a point 100 metres or thereby south of the extended north building line of the Waterside Hotel, a distance of 494 metres or thereby.

Length of road to be de-restricted

That length of the A78 Greenock – Prestwick Trunk Road at West Kilbride incorporating Seamill from a point 14 metres or thereby north of the extended north building line of No. 51 Snowdon Terrace in a southerly direction to a point 22 metres or thereby south of the extended south building line of No. 106 Ardrossan Road, a distance of 1.73 kilometres or thereby.

The A78 Trunk Road (West Kilbride Incorporating Seamill) (Restricted Road) Order 2005 (SSI 2005/413) is revoked by this Order.

Full details of the proposal are contained in the Order which, together with plans showing the length of road involved, a copy of the order being revoked and a statement of the Scottish Ministers’ reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be examined free of charge during normal business hours from 15 May 2019 until 26 June 2019 at the offices of Transport Scotland, Buchanan House, 58 Port Dundas Road, Glasgow, G4 0HF; West Kilbride Community Centre, Corse Street, West Kilbride, KA23 9AX.

Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order should send details of the grounds for objection in writing to the Director of Roads, c/o Christopher Lynch, Transport Scotland, Buchanan House, 58 Port Dundas Road, Glasgow, G4 0HF quoting reference A78/SW/CL by 26 June 2019.
