The A78 Trunk Road (West Kilbride incorporating Seamill) (30mph Speed Limit) Order 20[ ]

The Scottish Ministers hereby give notice that they propose to make the above Order under sections 82(2)(a) and (b), 83(1), 84(1)(a) and 124(1)(d) of, and paragraph 27 of schedule 9 of, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 which will have effect of imposing a 30mph speed limit on the following lengths of road: -

That length of the A78 Greenock – Prestwick Trunk Road at West Kilbride incorporating Seamill, from a point 135 metres or thereby south of its junction with Portencross Road, West Kilbride, in a southerly direction to a point 60 metres or thereby north of the extended south building line of No. 10 Chapelton Mains, Seamill, a distance of 1.9 kilometres or thereby.

The following length of road will cease to be a restricted road: -

That length of the A78 Greenock – Prestwick Trunk Road at West Kilbride incorporating Seamill from a point 14 metres or thereby north of the extended north building line of No. 51 Snowdon Terrace in a southerly direction to a point 22 metres or thereby south of the extended south building line of No. 106 Ardrossan Road, a distance of 1.75 kilometres or thereby.

The A78 Trunk Road (West Kilbride Incorporating Seamill) (Restricted Road) Order 2005 is revoked.

The effect of the Order is to extend the current 30mph speed limit on this length of the A78 by approximately 140 metres in a southerly direction.

Full details of the proposal are contained in the Order which, together with a plan showing the length of road involved, a statement of the Scottish Ministers’ reasons for proposing to make the Order and a copy of the order being revoked, may be examined free of charge during normal business hours from 11 March until 8 April 2020 at the offices of Transport Scotland, 5th Floor Reception, Buchanan House, 58 Port Dundas Road, Glasgow, G4 0HF and at West Kilbride Community Centre, Corse St, West Kilbride KA23 9AX.

Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order should send details of the grounds for objection in writing to the Director of Roads, c/o Jack Rorison, Transport Scotland, Buchanan House, 58 Port Dundas Road, Glasgow, G4 0HF quoting reference SW/A78/JR by 8 April 2020.
