The A82 Trunk Road (Balchraggan) (Temporary 40mph Speed Restriction) Order 2026
The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1), 4(1) and 14(1)(b) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will impose a temporary 40mph speed restriction on that length of the A82 Dalnottar – Inverness Trunk Road from a point6.379 kilometres or thereby north-east of the extended centreline of the A831, generally in a north-easterly direction to a point 1.856 kilometres or thereby south-westerly of the extended centreline of the C1072 Abriachan to Foxhole Road, a distance of 858 metres or thereby.
The Order, which is required in the interest of road safety, will be in operation from 9th August 2026 until 9th February 2028 and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
The Order does not apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations, or vehicles being used in an emergency for coastguard purposes.

UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 Compatibility Consideration and Narration of Statement of Compatibility
The Scottish Ministers have made the following statement regarding children’s rights:
“In accordance with section 23(2) of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 (the Act), the Scottish Ministers certify that, in their view, the A82 Trunk Road (Balchraggan) (Temporary 40mph Speed Restriction) Order 2026, is compatible with the UNCRC requirements as defined by section 1(2) of the Act.”
